HYDERABAD: The Telangana government would come out with a "proper" electronic hardware policy aimed at attracting manufacturing facilities to Hyderabad, IT Minister K T Rama Rao said here today. Speaking after inaugurating India Gadget Expo 2014 here, he pitched for support of the union government in promoting the hardware manufacturing sector in the state.

He noted that the state government has already approved two manufacturing clusters near the Hyderabad airport.

"I guarantee you that we will come up with a proper hardware policy which certainly will or should be supported by Government of India as well in terms of creating and attracting hardware manufacturing facilities to Hyderabad," Rao said.

Asserting that the state government is committed for the growth of Hyderabad and enhancing its brand image, the Minister noted that annual software exports from the city is around Rs 50,000 crore.

"In fact, that number is likely to go up this year." He also said the State government plans to establish the country's "biggest" incubation facility for start-ups within the next six to eight months.

The four-day event features some leading exhibitors from gadgets and electronics industry such as LG Electronics, Qualcomm, Nokia, D-Link, Gionee and Amazon.
