Tariff panel suggests uniform customs duty

THE REPORT of the working group on customs tariff structure and anomalies, submitted to the finance ministry recently, says that it is imperative to reduce the peak duty rate to 20 per cent by 2004-5 and to eliminate end-use and other exemptions.
