Taking fresh look at Intellectual Property Bill: Harsh Vardhan
NEW DELHI: The government said it wanted to reconsider the Protection and Utilisation of Public Funded Intellectual Property Bill, 2008, after Science and Technology Minister Harsh Vardhan withdrew the bill from Rajya Sabha today.

K VijayRaghvan, secretary of Departments of Science & Technology and Biotechnology said the government was having a fresh look at the bill.

"The original bill (Protection and Utilisation of Public Funded Intellectual Property Bill, 2008) was introduced a long time back. We thought of having a fresh look at the bill as the time is good to see if any changes could be made.

"The government will soon take a decision on this," Vijay Raghvan said.

The bill seeks to provide incentives for creating and commercialising intellectual property from public funded research.
