SSI need not fear WTO regime: Raje
Union Minister of Small Scale Industries Vasundhara Raje said on Saturday that the small scale enterprises in the country would have no reason to fear the WTO regime if they continued to maintain quality and upgrade technology.
"Our industry which is full of inherent potential has no reason to fear the WTO. Nothing can cause even the slightest damage if our industrial sector particularly small sector can maintain quality and upgrade technology", Raje said while addressing a workshop on "Impact of WTO on bicycle and parts industry" here on Saturday.
"Those who fail to adjust and adapt to the changing scenario are bound to perish in the market," she warned.
She said despite whatever concessions or support the government provided, what was important was self initiative and a capacity to march ahead with time.
The small scale industry is the backbone of any economy including those of developed countries and had a great potential of providing employment to millions of people, she added.
