Shourie warns parties on divestment

Union Minister for Commerce, Industry and Disinvestments Arun Shourie criticised political parties for employing double standards in matters related to implementing economic reforms and disinvesting in public sector undertakings.

HYDERABAD: Union Minister for Commerce, Industry and Disinvestments Arun Shourie criticised political parties for employing double standards in matters related to implementing economic reforms and disinvesting in public sector undertakings.
“The parties stand for them when in power, and oppose the same when out of power, he said while inaugurating the Hyderabad International Trade Exposition Centre here on Tuesday.
He warned that such double standards are having a serious impact on the economy. Praising chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu for implementing power sector reforms, he criticised the “free-power promise being made by the Congress party.
He said political leaders should learn three things from him: his focus on developing infrastructure projects, the speed and honesty he shows in implementing them, and his ability to rope in private investors to such projects.
