Talking to the media, he expressed happiness over the allocation of Rs 1,750 crores to the Union Territory.
The allocation had been increased by 20.27 per cent over the previous year`s allocation of Rs 1,455 crores, he said.
The outlay was finalised at a meeting he had with Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia.
Rangasamy said he had also urged the Planning Commission to ensure Puducherry was sanctioned a Central assistance of Rs 15 crores.
The sector wise allocation of funds would be decided today at a meeting the officials of the commission and Puducherry Government.
He expressed hope that the government would be able to have admission of students to the new State government sponsored medical college from 2008-09 academic year as every step had been taken to fulfil the parameters and norms of the Medical Council of India to set up the college. Already Rs 87 crores had been spent for the infrastructure for the college named after `Perunthalaivar Kamarajar`.
