Separate law for SSIs on the anvil

A separate law for the SSIs is on the anvil to help mitigate the problems being faced by the sector in complying with various legislations.

NEW DELHI: A separate law for the SSIs is on the anvil to help mitigate the problems being faced by the sector in complying with various legislations.
Revealing this to a PHDCCI delegation led by its president P K Jain, minister of state for small-scale industries and agro & rural industries Vasundhara Raje said the new consolidated SSI law will address most of the issues being faced by the sector.
The delegation also met Mr S K Tuteja, secretary (SSI), who assured them that the new law is in the advanced stage of finalisation. Mr Tuteja urged the need to define medium enterprises and a smooth change over from SSIs to SMEs.
