The government on Monday officially admitted for the first time that a moderation in the pace of privatisation was expected over the next few months.

NEW DELHI: The government on Monday officially admitted for the first time that a moderation in the pace of privatisation was expected over the next few months.
Sanjeev Ahluwalia, joint secretary, ministry of disinvestment, said that as a result of some ''recent changes'' the pace of privatisation would be moderated.
He was addressing an audience comprising members of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce in the capital. Mr Ahluwalia said that despite the "recent changes", the government''s commitment to allow greater access to the private sector remains intact.
