Sebi-SEC work jointly on framing laws

India's market regulator Sebi and its US counterpart Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) are working together on framing laws and regulations and also towards developing better practices.

MUMBAI: India's market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (Sebi) and its US counterpart Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) are working together on framing laws and regulations and also towards developing better practices.
"We are working together on various things. We pass on our best practices and experiences," SEC Office of International Affairs Assistant Director Shermon Boone said, while taking part in an international conference on transparent governance via video conference from US.
"We have a very robust training system facility here and are looking at drafting laws and regulations as well as providing training," he said at the conference organised by Indian merchant chambers.
Emphasising that the aim is to raise standards among securities regulators, Boone said: "We do not try to replicate SEC around the globe, but we think we have considerable experience which we are happy to share."
