RBI to circulate Ferritic stainless steel coins of Rs 5

MUMBAI: The Reserve Bank of India has announced that it would shortly put into circulation new Ferritic stainless steel coins of Rs 5 denomination. There will be two types of coins with the themes, connectivity and information technology and unity in diversity.

The coins will have security edges on its peripherals and the existing Rs 5 coins in circulation shall also continue to be legal tender.
