RBI policy meet tomorrow: Bankers' wish list

Will the RBI chief go for a rate cut at Friday's policy meet given the dovish stand taken by the US Fed? For now, it's all a guess on what Raghuram Rajan would do. Ahead of the meet, we bring you the wish list of some bankers who spoke to ET Now.

Pratip Chaudhuri, chairman, SBI

Cut the CRR, cut the repo rate. Do not restrict MSF to a particular number. Whatever excess SLR a bank holds should be available for MSF.

Aditya Puri, MD & CEO, HDFC Bank

If he is a very brave man, he could probably tweak the policy towards easing side a bit; but it's a tough one I don't want to be commenting on it. So, he's got too many balls to play.

RK Dubey, CMD, Canara Bank

There could be some monetary easing in the policy. If it's done, if liquidity is improved even slightly, that would improve the sentiment further

Shailendra Bhandari, CEO & MD of ING Vysya Bank

I think the RBI may not do anything. But my advice to them is that they should act sooner rather than later.
