RBI eases norms on infrastructure funding

The Reserve Bank today eased norms for declaring bank-funded infrastructure projects as sub-standard.

MUMBAI: The Reserve Bank today eased norms for declaring bank-funded infrastructure projects as sub-standard.

In its Annual Monetary Policy today, the apex bank said that the account would be treated as sub-standard only if commercial production does not begin two years after completion of the project.

Currently, if commercial production does not begin within a year of completion, the account is treated as sub-standard.

This revised norm would be effective from March 31, the RBI said.
