RBI Board to meet on Friday

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) board of directors is scheduled to meet in the capital on Friday. This is the customary board meeting held annually after the Union Budget is presented.

NEW DELHI: Reserve Bank of India (RBI) board of directors is scheduled to meet in the capital on Friday. This is the customary board meeting held annually after the Union Budget is presented. Finance Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram is scheduled to address the RBI board of directors headed by Governor Dr Yaga Venugopal Reddy

While the RBI board is scheduled to review the credit off-take and other monetary indicators, sources divulged that the bank may consider further hike in Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR) to tighten the liquidity in the market and rein in inflationary expectations.

However, there was no official communication to this effect from the RBI.
