The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Wednesday appointed Dr Ajit Ratnakar Joshi as Executive Director (ED) with effect from March 03, 2025, to look after Department of Statistics and Information Management and Financial Stability Department.

Dr. Joshi was serving as Principal Adviser in Department of Statistics and Information Management before his promotion.

The RBI's latest ED brings to the table an experience of over three decades in the areas of statistics, information technology, and cyber risk management.


Dr. Joshi has also been actively involved in academia, having served as a faculty member at the Institute of Development and Research in Banking Technology in Hyderabad. Additionally, he has participated in various committees and working groups focused on the compilation of macroeconomic statistics and relevant policy issues.

He holds a master’s degree in statistics from Nagpur University and a Ph.D. in monetary economics from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras. Further enhancing his qualifications, Dr. Joshi has obtained a Diploma in Development Policy and Planning from the Institute of Economic Growth in Delhi and is a certified associate of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (CAIIB).
