Punjab to review projects which are against state interest
The Punjab government today said that it would review all those investment projects which are not in the interest of the state.
"We are not against the development process being undertaken by the private companies in the state. But if anything is found to be against the state's interest, that would certainly be reviewed," Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal said here when asked about the government's stance on Reliance's multi-crore Farm to Fork project.
"Private companies are partners in development process. We have to see how far and how they can contribute," he said adding that anything which is against the interest the state can not be allowed.
The previous Congress government in the state had entered into an agreement with the Reliance Industries for this Farm to Fork initiative.
Under this arrangement, the then state government had decided to allot land to the company at several places in the state for its project. The company had planned to set up rural business hubs, collection centres and extension services for farmers in the state.
