Punjab government starts 'digital revolution'

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Government today started 'digital revolution' by installing IT infrastructure in its offices and interlinking them with LAN and WAN besides imparting IT training to 9,000 officers under e-district project, an official spokesperson said here.

"This e-revolution is focused on capacity building of employees to boost back end work flow for delivery of citizen centric services to citizens in a stipulated time as defined in Right to Service (RTS) Act," the spokesperson said.

On the e-revolution project, he said governance reforms department had imparted IT training to 1,700 officers and 7,000 more to be trained in next two months.

He said that more than 900 offices were connected with LAN and all these offices would be further linked with Sewa Kendras being set up in rural as well as urban areas.

According to him, the government offices were being provided with 2,500 new computers, printers and scanners under e-district project that would be connected with broadband internet.
