Punjab government has decided to de-list 783.33 hectare of forest land in Hoshiarpur district for agricultural purposes.

CHANDIGARH: Modifying its previous notification issued in 1990, the Punjab government has decided to de-list 783.33 hectare of forest land in Hoshiarpur district for agricultural purposes.

The notification regarding de-listing of the land, spread over 11 villages of Talwara block of the district, has been issued, an official spokesperson said today.

He said earlier, this land was notified under Punjab Land Preservation Act of 1990, which prohibited cultivation and habitation in this area.

Owners now will be allowed to use this land only for agricultural purposes, the spokesperson said.
