decision by the government, the clothing and textile industry on Sunday stressed the need to finalise the Rules of Origin (ROO).

"While the negative lists in PTA's is transitory in nature the ROO should take into account the value addition,
substantial transformation to ensure the exporters enjoy free market access,"

Mafatlal Industries Limited CEO (Textiles) Prem Malik said at a seminar organised by Confederation of
Indian Textile Industry (CITI) and Centre for Trade and Development (Centad) here.

In a statement, Clothing Manufacturers Association of India President Premal Udani claimed that India has less togain from the agreements signed.

"The agreements were more to leverage the political gains rather them economic gains," he alleged.

market all unchecked.

"Government has signed agreements with countries that are not having big markets leaving countries of West Europe and America where 90 per cent of market for our goods exists," he added.
