Provisional anti-dumping duty to be imposed on Borax

NEW DELHI: The Directorate General of Anti-Dumping and Allied Duties has recommended imposition of provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of Borax Decahydrate from Turkey and China.
The designated Authority recommended imposition of duties equal to the difference between the amount $406.81 per MT on Borax exported by ETI Holdings and Borochemie International from Turkey and landed value of imports.
It has also recommended a duty equal to the difference between amount $484.10 per MT on Borax exported by Dashiqiao Huaxin Chemi Co. Liaoning Province, Dalian Chem Import and Exports Group Co from China and other Turkish and Chinese exporters.
Landed value of imports shall be the assessable value as determined by the customs under the Customs Act, 1962 and all duties of customs except duties under sections, 3, 3A, 8B, 9 and 9A of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975.
However, the Authority which initiated the investigation on a complaint filed by Mumbai-based Borax Morarji alleging dumping of Borax originating in or exported from Turkey, China and US did not find a case against US.
The Authority concluded in its findings that domestic industry had suffered material injury due to dumped imports of Borax originating from China and Turkey which was exported below their normal value.
It said imposition of anti-dumping measures would remove the unfair advantages gained by dumping practices and prevent the decline of the domestic industry.
DGAD noted that imposition of these measures would not restrict imports from Turkey and China in any way and would not affect product''s availability to consumers.
