Promotional package for SSI sector soon
A major promotional package for small scale sector as promised in the National Common Minimum Programme (NCMP) would be announced soon, a top official has said.

NEW DELHI: A major promotional package for small scale sector as promised in the National Common Minimum Programme (NCMP) would be announced soon, a top official has said.
"The promotional package (for small scale sector) will be announced soon. The cabinet note for the package is on its way," Secretary in the Ministry of Small Scale Agro and Rural Industries Anupam Dasgupta said on the sidelines of a seminar on SSI organised by CII.
At the time of formation of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government the NCMP had said a major promotional package for the SSI sector will be announced soon.
The NCMP had also It will be freed from the Inspector Raj and given full credit, technological and marketing support. Infrastructure up gradation in major industrial clusters will receive urgent attention.
Dasgupta said that the new promotional package would be on the lines of a similar packages for the sector announced earlier.
He said the package would involve significant financial commitment from the government.
"The objective of the government is not to subsidies but to catalyse the growth of the sector," Dasgupta said.
He said the package would address the issue of enhancing the competitiveness of the sector and build capacity of the associations and entrepreneurs.
The package would also seek to encourage women entrepreneurs, Dasgupta said.
