Pregnant women in Vellore district would be provided nutritious food free of cost, during the last three months of the pregnancy.

VELLORE: Pregnant women in the district would be provided nutritious food free of cost, during the last three months of the pregnancy.
The food consisting of cereals, pulses, vegetables, including green leafy ones, would be given once in a month at the Primary Health Centres under the National Rural Health Scheme, health department officials said.
Besides, chlorine tablets would be distributed to them to ensure accessibility to clean drinking water.
The district health department also has formed health squads in villages which would identify pregnant women in the remote areas and also make provisions for safe drinking water.
