The Department of Post will now be in a position to give administrative orders for enforcement of the provisions of Universal Postal Union (UPU) Convention.

NEW DELHI: The Department of Post will now be in a position to give administrative orders for enforcement of the provisions of Universal Postal Union (UPU) Convention.

The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved ratification of the Sixth Additional Protocol to the Constitution of UPU adopted by the XXII Congress of the Union held in Beijing in 1999.

The decision would enable the postal department to have the instrument of ratification signed by the President of India and have the same deposited with director-general of the international bureau of the UPU through diplomatic channels along with approvals of other Acts of the Union.
