Several leaders who attended the summit announced emission cut plans. While President Biden said the US emission will be 50% to 52% lower in 2030 than levels in 2005, Chinese President Xi Jinping mentioned his country’s 2060 zero net target as well as plans to reduce coal consumption starting from 2025. Modi said that India’s share in per capita carbon footprint was a fraction of the global average and that the country was taking ‘bold steps’ despite huge developmental challenges.
