PDS kerosene, LPG subsidy scheme extended till March 2015

NEW DELHI: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) today approved extension of the PDS Kerosene and Domestic LPG Subsidy Scheme and Freight Subsidy (for far-flung areas) Scheme for a further period of one year.

Under the scheme, Government provides a subsidy of Rs 22.58 per 14.2 kg LPG cylinder and Rs 0.82 per litre on PDS kerosene.

Besides, freight subsidy was also being provided to PDS kerosene and domestic LPG consumers in far-flung areas under the Freight Subsidy (for far-flung areas) Scheme, 2002.

These two schemes ended on March 31, 2014 and have now been extended till March 31, 2015, an official statement said.
