Panel set up to 'dovetail' skill development schemes
NSDC under the Finance ministry has been engaging with the industry in its consultation pertaining to skill development, at state and national level.

In reply to a question in Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for Labour and Employment Vishnu Deo Sai explained that one of the suggested provisions includes the mandating of all schemes to adopt placement linked funding criteria.
"The government has set up a committee for dovetailing/rationalization of central government schemes on skill development with members from 22 government ministries and departments," Sai said.
The National Skill Development Corporatioin ( NSDC) under the Finance ministry has been engaging with the industry in its consultation pertaining to skill development, both at state as well as national level, he said.
The Minister also mentioned that the 12th Five Year Plan (2012-17) had set a target to equip 500 lakh persons with skills.
As per this in 2013-14, 75.48 lakh persons were trained against a target of 70.4 lakh, he said.
In 2012-13, 51.88 persons were trained against a target of 72.5 lakh, and in 2014-15, 1.84 lakh persons were skilled against a target of 103 lakh.
Sai said the 12th plan target would be achieved in the remaining period of the plan.
