Panel of state FMs to discuss goods and services tax

The Empowered Committee of state finance ministers, to be held at Kovalam near here on May 5, would discuss issues related to proposed introduction of goods and services tax.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Empowered Committee of state finance ministers, to be held at Kovalam near here on May 5, would discuss issues related to proposed introduction of goods and services tax.

The meeting would also discuss the terms and reference of 13th Finance Commission, an official press release said on Saturday.

A seminar on 'Centre-State relations' would also be held as part of the meeting here on May 6. Kerala Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan would inaugurate the seminar. West Bengal Finance Minister Azimdas Gupta would preside.

Finance Ministers from Maharashtra, Orissa, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand and Haryana are likely to participate in the seminar.
