No plans to impose tax on pet dogs this fiscal or next: MCD

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Monday clarified that the civic body has no plans to impose tax on pet dogs during this fiscal or the next.

NEW DELHI: The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Monday clarified that the civic body has no plans to impose tax on pet dogs during this fiscal or the next.

"The civic body is not going to impose tax on pet dogs during the current financial or the next year," MCD Leader of House Subhash Arya said.

He said that MCD has not imposed tax on pet dogs for the last 18 years.

Delhi Government has in January finalised amendments to two municipal acts which would enable the authorities to levy a tax of Rs 500 a year on dog and cat owners.
