No change in CRR, repo, reverse repo rates

RBI Governor tinkers with risk weightage on home loans up to Rs 20 lakh. GDP forecast lowered to 8.5%.

NEW DELHI: RBI Governor Dr Y V Reddy has refrained from making any changes in the key rates like repo, reverse repo, cash reserve ratio. No change has been announced even in the statutory liquidity ratio. A marginal tinkering in the risk weightage on home loans up to Rs 20 lakh has been announced by the RBI governor. On small housing loans, weightage has been slashed to 50% from earlier 75%. Inflation targeted at 5% as against earlier 5-5.5%. The overseas investment limit has been hiked to 300% of net worth.

After the RBI Governor kept the rates unchanged, the market responded positively and zoomed by 160 points.
