NEW DELHI: Government think-tank NITI Aayog will convene a three-day global conference here in October to discuss making India a hub for commercial dispute resolution through arbitration.

President Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate the three-day programme to be held from October 21-23, 2016, the Aayog said in a statement.

"Our attempt is to improve the institutional capacity necessary to create a vibrant ecosystem to make India the next big hub for international commercial arbitration," it said.

The brainstorming session 'Global Conference on National Initiative towards Strengthening Arbitration and Enforcement in India' will have Chief Justice T S Thakur as chief patron.

The session will help provide a blueprint for steps that are critical in strengthening arbitration and its enforcement in India and across the globe, NITI Aayog said.

Aayog said it will help frame effective policy necessary to augment institutional capacity for promoting international commercial arbitrations in India.
