MP govt to spend Rs 19000 crore on development works

Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the development works of Rs 19,000 crore will be carried out in the current financial year in the State.

GWALIOR: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday said the development works of Rs 19,000 crore will be carried out in the current financial year in the State.

"Development works to the tune of Rs 19,000 crore will be carried out in the current financial year in the State," Chouhan told reporters here.

He said that the paucity of funds won't come in the way of carrying out developmental activities in Madhya Pradesh.

Chouhan said Sixth Pay Commission of India recommendations have added an additional expenditure of Rs 2600 crore on the state, whereas the state's budget was of 68,000 crore.

About the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) objections to the state sponsored welfare scheme "Ladli Laxmi" for the girl child, he said that this scheme along with the Madhya Pradesh government's "Mass Marriage" is being copied by other states.

Asked about two different findings of the National Commission for Women (NCW) and State Commission for Women (SCW)on the alleged virginity test conducted on women before the state-sponsored mass marriage in Shahdol district on June 30, the Chief Minister said that every one has his/her viewpoint to look at things.
