Ministry seeks speedy customs clearance

KOLKATA: The Union Shipping Ministry would ask the Union Finance Ministry to speed up the process of customs clearance at various ports, particularly Kolkata Port Trust.

Shipping minister Vedprakash Goyal said here that his ministry would take up the issue of delay in customs clearance with the finance ministry to ensure smooth cargo handling, a KoPT spokesperson said today. Goyal said delay in customs clearance was a major problem for the port and “we will solve it.�
