The Ministry of Corporate Affairs organised 282 investor awareness programmes in October across various parts of India, amid several cases of fraudulent investment schemes coming to light in the country.

NEW DELHI: The Ministry of Corporate Affairs organised 282 investor awareness programmes in October across various parts of India, amid several cases of fraudulent investment schemes coming to light in the country.

With this, a total of 801 investor awareness programmes have been organised by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs in the current fiscal so far, an official statement said today.

These programmes have been organised by the Ministry in various parts of the country through its three professional institutes -- Institute of Chartered Accountants of India ( ICAI), Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) and the Institute of Cost Accountants of India.

"During the last financial year a total of 1,986 investor awareness programmes were organised," the statement said.

"For these programmes, an amount of Rs 5 crore has been earmarked in the budget of the ministry," it added.

In recent months, the Ministry has also started organising the investor awareness programmes in the rural areas of the country. The Ministry has engaged the services of CSC e-Governance Services India Ltd for such events.
