NEW DELHI: Taking up the cause of the central government employees, Union Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken on Wednesday sought the review of the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission to rectify certain anomalies.
"Though most of the recommendations were aimed at extending long term relief to the employees, there were some anomalies which needed review," he said.
Maken today met the Finance Minister P Chidambaram along with a delegation of National Confederation of Central government employees.
While congratulating Chaidambaram for ensuring submission of the 6th Pay Commission's recommendations in record time of 18 months, Maken requested him to approve upward revision of scales of Group C employees.
The Finance Minister was apprised that while the commission had recommended upward revision of pay scales of assistants, section officers of central secretariat services and allied officers but Group C employees had been left out.
It was brought to the notice of the Finance Minister that employees drawing Rs 100 per month as transport allowance will not get benefit of the hike recommended by the commission.
It would therefore help if transport allowance were to be raised to Rs 800 per month for all those who are covered in pay grade upto Rs 4200, Maken added.
