Make in Pune portal launched to facilitate investments in city

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Make in India campaign is now trickling down from the national to state and finally, city level with the launch of the Make in Pune portal. The website aims to be a one-stop-shop for all the information possibly needed by businesses to invest in the city. Rohit Hegde, director, KSH Infra, which is spearheading the initiative, said, “The Make in Pune portal will further ease investments in the city and state, and this ties in with the CM Devendra Fadnavis’ ‘ Make in Maharashtra’ initiative.” The trigger for this site, he said were the constant queries on different aspects of doing business in Pune –regulations, quality of workforce, leisure options -- and the lack of a single platform which addresses these. With Pune featuring in the 100 Smart Cities list, this portal is likely to help simplify the process of investing in upcoming initiatives in the city. This is among the first city-focused portals to be functional.

In addition to simplifying the rules and regulations for investment and land acquisition in the city, the website will also provide information on other aspects of living in Pune. An important feature will be a helpdesk which ties into an advisory panel comprising industry bodies, indo-foreign trade bodies and expat clubs who will be available to respond to queries related to different aspects of investing in Pune – from the legal requirements, licenses needed, the ambit of the state and central governments to the best K12 schools available and what neighbourhood to live in. The idea is to try and provide a 360 degree view to investing and lving in Pune.

Pune is home to one of the biggest industrial areas in Maharashtra, with 15 industrial clusters created by the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation and over 38 cooperative industrial estates and 168 private IT parks. The city also has among the highest concentration of small and medium scale enterprises in the country.
