'Make in India to use technology for industrial growth'
Inviting American cos to take advantage of the vast manufacturing opportunities in India, a govt official has said that a major highlight is to use technology to leapfrog in terms of industrial growth.

Representatives from Ford, Boeing, Honeywell, United Technology and GE, among other companies, shared their experiences about investing in India at the event organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry ( CII) and Embassy of India.
Kant urged the US industry to take advantage of the vast opportunities in the various sectors identified under ‘Make in India’ to enter the country, make for the domestic market and also export.
“A major highlight of the ‘Make in India’ initiative is to use technology to leapfrog in terms of industrial growth,” Kant told the gathering of about 200 people from across the US and Indian private sectors, government agencies, academic institutions, think tanks and media. “Gr8 interaction with American companies investing in India regarding their issues at USIBC meet in Washington. Immense positivity!,” Kant tweeted after the event.
A delegation of US chief executives led by Honeywell CEO David Cote will be visiting India along with US President Obama for holding talks with the Indian CEO delegation led by Tata Group chairman Cyrus Mistry. Kant highlighted the steps such as the e-Biz platform and initiative to liberalise FDI regime in key sectors.
