Maharashtra Govt earmarks Rs 2,685 crore to tackle drought
Maharashtra Govt has made a provision of Rs 2,685 crore to tackle drought situation in the state, CM Prithviraj Chavan said.
Making a statement in both Houses of the Legislature, he said an additional Rs 500 crore will be further earmarked, if needed, to provide drought relief measures.
The Maharashtra Government will pursue the issue of financial assistance to tackle the situation with the Centre, Chavan said, adding an all-party delegation will go to Delhi soon in this regard.
There has been a decline in sowing operation in the state by around 22 per cent over the last year due to scanty rainfall, the Chief Minister said.
