Madhya Pradesh launches portal to provide employment to migrant workers

All the migrant workers and their families who have reached back their home state have been registered on the portal besides employers who are seeking workers as they re-start economic activities.

"Madhya Pradesh is the first state in India which has completed the survey of all migrant labourers," chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said at the unveiling of the portal.
In an effort aimed at providing employment to migrant workers, Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday launched the Rozgar Setu portal that will provide employment to labourers as per their skills and efficiency.

All the migrant workers and their families who have reached back their home state have been registered on the portal besides employers who are seeking workers as they re-start economic activities.

According to a statement by the state government, 7,30,000 migrant labourers and 5,79,000 members of their families have been registered on the portal, taking the total to 13,10,000. Besides, 5,246 employers have been registered on the portal.


"On the very first day of the inauguration of the portal, 79 labourers have been employment as per their skills," it said.

"Madhya Pradesh is the first state in India which has completed the survey of all migrant labourers," chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said at the unveiling of the portal.

The state plans to hold rojgar melas over the next two months to employ these workers besides ensuring that work opportunities are created under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme.
