Land acquisition law to be amended

The Union Cabinet tonight approved amendments to the Requisitioning and Acquisition of Immovable Property Act, 1952.

Sources aware of the development said the amendments will take care of the cost variation of lands when they are sold due to non-completion of projects by the government.
NEW DELHI: A law which manages the changes in prices of land at the time of its acquisition by the government and its subsequent sale is likely to be amended in the coming days.

The Union Cabinet tonight approved amendments to the Requisitioning and Acquisition of Immovable Property Act, 1952.

Sources aware of the development said the amendments will take care of the cost variation of lands when they are sold due to non-completion of projects by the government.


The original Act gives power to a defined competent authority to requisition a property for any public purpose.
