Khera to file PILs to ensure reform
Shiv Khera has decided to file public interest litigations (PILs) in the Supreme Court to bring about socio-economic and political justice and to reform the existing system.
These PILs will be filed under the banner of his public life initiative called Country First — a non-profit organisation, which seeks to prevent evil in public life, rather than cure it.
Mr Khera was here for a day on the invitation of a Hindi daily to address the denizens of Jamshedpur. He said that shortly after his return to New Delhi this week, he would file a PIL in the Supreme Court to include the provision ‘None of the above’ on electoral ballot papers.
He said: “If more than half of the voters exercise this choice, then the nominee of that particular constituency can be debarred from participating in elections for some time.
The forum had filed a PIL a few years ago, when the Supreme Court asked it to file a PIL with a High Court. According to Mr Khera, filing a PIL in a High Court would be wasting one’s time as well as that of the court. Apart from this, Mr Khera has decided to file a PIL for a witness protection programme in the country, so that judgements can easily be passed on all matters. He said: “There are nearly 75% cases pending in the court. The real criminals get released due to the witnesses getting intimidated.
