Kerala offers slowdown package to PSUs

Kerala is proposing to offer a package for the public sector undertakings in the state, industry minister Elamaram Kareem informed the state assembly om Thursday.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the backdrop of the economic slowdown, Kerala is proposing to offer a package for the public sector undertakings in the state, industry minister Elamaram Kareem informed the state assembly om Thursday.

Replying to another question in the assembly, Mr Kareem said work was progressing towards completion of the proposed Telecom City in Thiruvananthapuram.

The industry minister said the Travancore Titanium products was currently doing well, and that most of the public sector undertakings under the industry department were making profits.

Mr Kareem pointed out that there was a need for capital investment in the public sector undertakings and that the government would seek the co-operation of the banking sector to ensure that the investment requirements of the PSUs were adequately met.
