'Kerala may strive for eco growth'
People of Kerala should be prepared to strive for the state's economic prosperity considering the vast potential and immense possibilities available, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said on Saturday.
"Kerala has vast potential and immense possibilities for making a quantum jump in the economic development which we are yet to utilise," Chandy said after laying the foundation stone of the over Rs 30 crore Kinfra's integrated textile park, being set up over 120 acres at Nadukani near Taliparamba.
Quoting President A P J Abdul Kalam's vision of the need to enhance the per capita income by 100 per cent in three years, Chandy said Kalam, while elaborating his ten-point agenda recently in the state assembly, made his remarks only after carefully studying the state's potential and possibilities which were being under utilised now.
"Even though one might feel that such a quantum jump in economic growth is generally not possible, the President made the remarks only after carefully studying the hidden potential of the state," Chandy remarked.

He stressed the need for completing the project, which will take care of setting up the required infrastructure, required for various textile units in the region, on a time bound basis as any deviation would only result in huge loss to the state, considering the immense scope for textile exports from Kannur.
On completing the long cherished textile park, the annual textile exports including handloom from Kannur, which is pegged at Rs 250 crore, could be doubled while the park would help giving direct employment to 4000 people and indirect employment to 6000 people, he said.
