KOCHI: Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy today said all government departments in the state will be asked to allow self-attestation of documents, making it a simple affair for people dealing with the public agencies.

"My government will soon bring self-attestation system (that will replace the need for attestation by a gazetted officer)," the CM said at the inauguration of a three-day 'exclusive buyer-seller meet' here.

It is being done to benefit the people immensely, Chandy said.

Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Office had directed all union ministries and state governments to facilitate self-certification of documents.

Under the self-certification method, original documents would have to be produced only at the final stage.

The CM vowed to end "road blocking" red-tapism to facilitate entrepreneurship by the state's young aspirants in the growing small and medium enterprises sector.

Commenting in the presence of entrepreneurs in the state's SME sectors and several global business players, Chandy said his government will launch an ambitious scheme very soon to facilitate smooth entry of youth belonging to scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and fishermen community in the small and medium enterprises sector.

Noting that red-tapism was one of the serious impediments to growth of industry, particularly SME sectors, Chandy said his government was committed to remove all such road blocks for the faster growth of the state.

Speaking about entrepreneurial aspirations of the youth belonging to Scheduled Caste, Schedule Tribe and fishermen community in the state, Chandy said his government was preparing a scheme to provide all necessary support to them to start small and medium manufacturing units.

He said Kerala was the first state in the country to earmark one per cent of its annual budget for entrepreneurship development activities.
