NEW DELHI: The government has decided to appoint K Roy Paul, a 1967 batch IAS officer from the Bihar cadre, as the civil aviation secretary. He will take over on March 1.

new delhi: the government has decided to appoint k roy paul, a 1967 batch ias officer from the bihar cadre, as the civil aviation secretary. he will take over on march 1. the current civil aviation secretary a h jung is slated to retire on february 28. now posted as secretary in the environment and forests ministry, paul will be taking over at a time when the civil aviation industry is struggling to recover from the impact of september 11 terrorist attacks on the us which has led to closure of several airlines. going by the current practice, paul is also likely to be made the chairman of air-india. k c misra, a 1976 batch ias officer from the andhra pradesh cadre, will take over as special secretary in the environment and forests department. decisions to this effect have been cleared by the appointments committee of the cabinet. the government has also named malti s sinha, secretary, national commission for scheduled castes and scheduled tribes, to the department of indian system of medicine and homeopathy. sinha is a 1966 batch ias officer from the bihar cadre. she will be replaced at the national commission for scheduled castes and scheduled tribes by ashoke k gupta, 1967 batch ias officer of the west bengal cadre.
