Inquiry ordered into irregularities by DFSC
An inquiry has been ordered into the alleged irregularities by the District Food and Supplies Controller (DFSC) in connivance with certain rice millers.
A committee of Additional Deputy Commissioner and Sub-divisional Magistrate, Kapurthala has been constituted for the purpose, Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Verma said.
It had been alleged the DFSC had made fictitious entries of stocks in state records to defraud the government. Also it was alleged that certain stocks meant for exports were diverted against levy quota under the garb of fictitious purchases from other districts, he said.
It has also been alleged that Rs 60,000 was being "charged" for each truck of rice purchased from open market and to be supplied against levy quota, Verma said.
