KOCHI: The Indian National League (INL) on Saturday urged the Union Government to initiate immediate steps to implement the Justice Sachar Commission Report as well as the Justice Mishra Commission recommendation.
Speaking to reporters after the special session of the National Executive of the INL here, Prof Mohammed Sulaiman, National President, INL, appealed to the Centre not to shy away from its commitment towards being equal and just towards all citizens of the country specially the backward and the minorities.
In a resolution passed at the meeting, it condemned the assassination of former Pakistan Prime minister Benazir Bhutto.'We are of the profound view that the evil forces of imperialism could be behind the act and is done with a view to creating chaos and confusion in the entire muslim regions', the resolution said.
It also condemned the attacks in Kandhamal in Orissa state against the christian community. "INL demands CBI enquiry and expose the persons responsible in both Orissa as well as Rajasthan," he said.
In another resolution, INL congratulated the Prime minister Manmohan Singh for his 15-point programme announced for the welfare of minorities.

Pointing out that the 15-point programme announced by Singh was the same, as promulgated by the then Prime minister Indira Gandhi in 1983, he said 'it is sad that almost 25 years of the programme being announced not much benefit has been percolated to the muslims and other minorities'.Download
