India phases out CFCs in manufacturing aerosol products
India has phased out the use of chloro floro carbons (CFCs) in manufacturing aerosol products excluding metered dose inhaler, foam and all types of refrigeration equipments.
Addressing the 19th meeting of the Montreal Protocol at Montreal, Canada, Minister of State for Environment and Forests, Namo Narayan Meena, said phasing out of CFCs are progressing as per agreed schedule to meet the reduction targets as specified in the Protocol.
He also urged other member nations to follow the phasing-out process at the earliest as it would check trade in equipments containing CFCs and Halons, an official release said here today.
Observing that India has ratified all amendments to the Montreal Protocol, the minister said a periodical review was being carried out for preparedness in various sectors under the Protocol.
The National Regulatory Measures have been designed in a manner which encourages enterprises using non-ODSs based technologies through fiscal incentives, he said.
Meena appealed for an adequate fund availability of environmentally-safe substitutes and expeditious transfer of related technologies under fair and favourable conditions, the statement said.
