India has all the ingredients to succeed: Harvard Professor

NEW DELHI: India has all the ingredients to win amidst all the gloom, said Harvard business school professor Michael E Porter on Thursday.

“India has all the ingredients to win. It will win! I will be the No. 1 cheerleader in your success story,” NITI Aayog tweeted quoting Porter ,who was the speaker at Aayog’s lecture on transforming India.

According to a series of NITI Aayog tweets, Porter said India is at a very good place in the chart of prosperity performance.


“We're seeing lots of signs of progress here,” the tweets quoting Porter said. Speaking at the third NITI lecture series, Porter was all in praise for India’s recent initiatives, including the Jan Dhan-Aadhaar-Mobile (JAM) trinity and the outcome-based monitoring across sectors.

“Initiatives like JAM in India are breaking new ground in economic policy and the process of development,” Porter said, adding that measuring outcomes across sectors have immense power to drive radical change in India. JAM trinity refers to the government’s initiative to link Jan Dhan accounts, Mobile numbers and Aadhar cards of Indians to plug the leakages of government subsidies. Porter is the third eminent speaker at the NITI lecture series on transforming India.

The lecture on Thursday on 'Competitiveness of Nations & Regions: New Learnings' was attended by top policy maker in the country, including PM Narendra Modi, his cabinet ministers and top bureaucrats.
