Incentive scheme on the cards for critical mineral recycling: G Kishan Reddy

New Delhi: The government will consider the demands of the material recycling industry and take reforms on a fast-track basis, coal and mines minister G Kishan Reddy said on Monday.

Addressing the Material Recycling Association of India's seminar on critical mineral recycling ecosystem, Reddy said the government was preparing an incentive scheme for critical mineral recycling and has already allocated about ₹34,000 crore for critical mineral development.

He emphasised the need to advance critical mineral recycling with a focus on innovative technologies, entrepreneurship, e-waste management and environmental sustainability.


The association highlighted the need for immediate abolition of the Pre-shipment Inspection Certificate framework for imports of ferrous and non-ferrous metal scrap, saying it had impacted the industry's operations.

The association also sought removal of import duty on aluminium scrap.
