Immovable property transfer norms eased

The government on Wednesday said transfer of immovable property can be registered without obtaining no-objection certificate from appropriate tax authority from July.

NEW DELHI: The government on Wednesday said transfer of immovable property can be registered without obtaining no-objection certificate from appropriate tax authority from July.
This follows the provision in the Finance Act 2002, that persons intending to transfer immovable property need not furnish no-objection certificates after July as provided in Chapter XXC of the Income Tax Act.
An official release clarified that even those persons who had applied for no-objection certificates for registration of transfer of immovable property before June 30 as per income tax rules could also do so without the certificate.
