IMC2017: Government approves installation of towers in all army cantonment areas

NEW DELHI: The government has approved installation of towers in all army cantonment areas of the country, IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad announced at India Mobile Congress event on Wednesday.

While mentioning Airtel Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal, Prasad said, " Dharmendra and I are coming from the cabinet meeting and we have just approved installation of towers in army cantonment areas."

Further, the minister announced that the government will be finalising a new electronic policy, IoT policy, software-product policy, cloud policy and ecommerce policy.

Further he said that there will be three new centres of excellence established in Gurgaon, Malviya Nagar and Vishakhapatnam which will be dedicated to new areas of growth. "The centre of excellence must be established in new emerging areas such as blockchain, data science and analytics, augmented reality, virtual reality and machine learning," he added.

Talking about mobile manufacturing, Prasad referred to a tweet and said that in the last 3 years, 100 mobile factories have been established in India.
Touching upon data privacy, the minister said that there is need to create balance between data availability, data anonymity, data ultility, data innovation and data anonymity.

"Indian digital economy is poised to become 1 trillion economy comprising od communication, IT, electronic, manufacturing, ecommerce and cybersecurity," added the IT Minister.
